You know the drill...if your house was burning down and you could only save one thing, what would it be (excluding ppl and pets of course)? A lot of people would say their phones (for me, it would def be my external hard drives. I can buy a new phone, computer or camera but I can't buy all my work back!).
The point is that we use our phones for EVERYTHING now—
The usuals: email, texting, phone calls, social media/internet, listening to music, playing games, camera, etc.
and now even: flashlights, calendars, banking, temperature controls, door locks, catching a ride, getting inspired...I could go on forever, there's literally an app for everything!
Me: I am notorious for having tons of apps (most of them I don't end up using), but I do have a few faves that have made it thru many "delete-for-more-space" rounds! (P.S. If you have one ur obsessed with, plz share! I LOVE getting new apps and trying them out :)
Kevo – I use Kevo to unlock my door without a key. It's sooo nice to not have to carry a key around anymore, plus if someone in my family needs to get into my house when I'm not there, I can send them an eKey. Problem solved!
Uber – I've used both Uber and Lyft, and to be honest, I don't see a huge difference in user experience. I just default to Uber usually. Imo, it's THE BEST way to get around in cities where you're traveling, or even in your own city sometimes.
FreshBooks – I use FreshBooks to keep track of all my financial info. The design for the app is much better than their website—so easy to use, and I love that I can track and check in on my finances anytime anywhere.
Todoist – Todoist is one of my main organization tools. I mainly use it on my computer (in one click, you can create tasks that link to your email, so no more hunting around for all those email chains!). It's also a really well-designed app so I can see all my to-dos for the day at a glance when I'm out and about.
Word Swag – There are tons of apps that let you create amazing text layouts on your photos, but my favorite for a long time has been Word Swag. It has so many options for great font pairings and type lockups!
Mextures– This app lets you edit photos with a zillion textures and filters to choose from, and people are adding new ones all the time. If you love Instagram filters, this is going to blow your mind.
Over– Over turns photos into beautiful posters and gives you a toolbox of editing, embellishing, and captioning facets. I think it may even make a non-designer be able to make cool shit! hahaha, what?!
Spotify– My favorite way to listen to music (except live, of course!). I listen to Spotify pretty much nonstop throughout the day...I could not survive w/o it. And if you're not great at finding the coolest new bands, don't worry, this app does it for you!
Unum – A new friend just told me about this app and I LOVE it! It's brilliant. This app is great for helping you manage your Instagram. It lets you see (and plan) all of your posts ahead of time...so you can see if putting that pic of the cat is really going to look good next to all the selfies you've already posted!
