My husband Aaron and I were just recently blessed with finding a dream of a house in Dayton, KY, an 1890 Italianate Victorian that we are renovating from top to bottom (and inside to outside)! We've been working on it for a few months and have now moved into a section of it (the future Airbnb space we'll be renting out).
Our plan is to convert the house into a modern, industrial design with an open floor plan (Bricky Vicki has some BEAUTIFUL bones!). And because people ask us about it all the time (and want to see pix which we can never find quickly on our phones!), we decided to start an Instagram account—@the1890brickyhouse—to document the process (and help us find the photos faster, haha).
Currently, we've got about 1/4 of the house finished (the future Airbnb rental) and are in the demolition process for the rest of the house. It's lots of fun to see a house transformed before your eyes (like on HGTV!!) but get to make all the decisions yourself! We feel very lucky! We'll be posting photos throughout the process from start to finish, including before & afters, work in progress, our inspiration, historical facts about the house and any unique details that we find (like the Cincinnati Enquirer newspapers from 1931 that insulate the floors!).
If you're like us and watch HGTV religiously, love modern industrial as much as you love vintage Victorian and often find yourself drooling over pics of exposed brick and reclaimed wood, join us on our adventure! We love hearing other ppl's opinions as we move through the house, room by room!
P.S. And just in case you were wondering, "bricky" is Victorian slang for "brave" because our Vicki is just that)!
