Hiey guys! If you're like me and LOVE supporting fellow artists and creatives who are living their dream, this is the list for you!! Just in time for some last-minute shopping, here's some of my fave people making cool shit that you can buy!
Jeff and John at Jeff & John Winkle Studio are two of the nicest (and most talented) guys you'll ever meet. Twin brothers who bring their artistic talents together (design and painting) to create BEAUTIFUL ultra-modern paintings on subjects from Cincinnati landmarks to nature (or a custom subject of your choosing). You can buy originals, prints and even get custom framing. Seeing their work in person is the only way, stop by to get hooked!
This gal is my cuz and just a wonderful human being. Christie Lee started Feather Refuge a couple years ago and sells graphic tees to support adoption and foster care families. If you want your purchase to do double-good, buy a beautifully designed t-shirt here!
One of my fave ppl in the world, Chris Rumage, helps manage and design at Studio Art and Stone where they sell beautiful handcrafted coasters made of Italian marble. You can buy one of their gorgeous pre-made designs or have a custom set made, like these that our little Luna-bear got for her 1st bday! They are super high-quality and local, which u know I love!
Though I've never met these guys in person, I've bought a TON of their cards from shops around town and can attest to their print quality and vintage aesthetic, plus their sense of humor is pretty great too (check out that Instagram post). Steam Whistle Letter Press offers quirky, nostalgic greeting cards, turning out "fine prints for pretty people"...and that's all of you, of course!
Inch x Inch was started by two life-long friends in Indianapolis who LOVE buttons. I love when you can get the vibe of a company just by looking at their work, and these buttons tell a good story. They sell T-shirts, prints, patches and of course, buttons (PLUS they support local youth arts education programs!). Great stocking-stuffers!!
CoyoTees Screen Printing is operated by one of my best buds, David Grenier. Located in Old Milford (don't you love that little area?!), David screenprints high-quality, custom T-shirts and is one of the most laidback, chillest dudes you'll ever meet. We come to him every year for our Annual Smedley Christmas Trip T-shirts, school-sponsored shirts and random other asks, and he's always up for a new adventure. Hire him to also design the shirt for you and he'll be your #1 fan for life!
After trying out this locally made chocolate for the first time the other day (purchased at The Gruff), I am done with mass brands. Yeah, it's more expensive than a Hershey's bar...but it also tastes a million times better (also there's NO WAY you'll be able to eat the whole thing at once). Maverick Chocolate is a bean-to-bar craft chocolate company (right here in Cincinnati, folks!) with the SWEETEST startup story (check it out on the inside of their packaging). Visit their Findlay Market location to see their chocolate-making in action!
Kelsey Downs is one of the most talented (and humble) designers I've ever met. I've been lucky to have her in my life for about 6 or so years now and I love every minute we spend together! Besides her full-time agency job here in Cincy, she also makes these funky block-prints for her side-biz Kels & Co! This one of Ohio in gold metallic ink is my FAVE and decorates my bedside table (also, they are SUPER affordable!).
James Billiter's Cincinnati-themed prints have incredible attention to detail and vintage flair. Every time you look at one of his pieces, you find new elements to love. You can buy his prints in lots of stores around town...check out James Billiter Studio for locations and his Instagram (@billiterstudio) for pix!
Lindsay McCord is a hidden talent fo sho, and one of my old buddies! She's a Cincinnati native (now lives in Denver) and has been cranking out these dope bird illustrations lately like it's no big thang. Get these TD bird prints before she gets too boss for the rest of us. See her work @lindsuza on Instagram and leave a comment if you want one. 8x10" Giclee prints are $20, plus shipping. Sold!
And last...Manman (Follow us @themanmans)! We love getting to utilize skills other than print/branding/etc., and Park+Vine has hired us a few times to create hand-drawn, quirky work for them. They're closing up shop in mid-Jan though, so go check out what we've got in-store while the gettin's good!
Hope this list helps you find something different for your special! Lmk of your fave local talent and I might feature them on my next local post!
