I LOVE the holidays! One of my fave parts is getting to catch up with everyone in spaces that are beautifully decorated...it's an ideal setting for capturing all those beautiful moments that are bound to happen! This past week, during Thanksgiving, I spent tons of quality time with the fam, which for me also means lots of photo ops!
My husband’s brother and sister-in-law were in town from Utah all week with their 2-year-old, Inara (isn’t that the cutest name? It means “ray of light” and it’s right on; she brings so much joy to our family!). She’s spunky and energetic, and we are all always fighting to get a hug! I can't help but take hundreds of photos of her whenever we are together. This one was from when we went on a little hike!
While following Inara around with my camera, I was struck once again by how fleeting these memories are. I know this instinctively (that’s one reason I carry my camera everywhere), but I'm also reminded of how beautiful these people and relationships are when I look back through the photos.
When a photograph can capture something more powerful than the actual moment itself, it's incredible, like this one of Ben and Inara...so much love is captured here. It's more than playing with a toy, it's an uncle getting on the floor out of utter adoration for his niece and wanting to spend time with her.
And don’t forget about your kids as they get into their teens and stare stone-faced into the camera because it’s no longer cool to smile. Bribe them with coffee and sweet urban spaces (and friends!)...and you might be surprised how well they open up.
If you are interested in booking a photoshoot to capture your child’s stage in life, let me know! It's my favorite type of photography! Email me at email@example.com or fill out this online form.
