Busy Bees: 6 Tips for De-Stressing When You're Always On the Go
October 14, 2016
We're all crazy-busy. And it seems like we get busier all the time. If you are a freelancer or small business owner, your responsibilities may be double (perhaps quadruple) that of working for someone else. Check out these 6 tips that help me reduce stress on busy days.
Take a break. People are more productive when they take frequent breaks. For me, taking a break every 2 hours is what works—even if it's just for 10 minutes, it totally energizes and refreshes my brain. When I'm stuck on a problem or just bored, taking that break solves the issue almost 100% of the time!
Get outside for a few minutes. Nature is a proven stress reliever. When it's nice out, I love sitting in my hammock and just drinking in the fresh air for a bit; when it's colder out, sitting in a sunroom would be NOICE (if I had one!!!).
Turn everything OFF. Sometimes I'll go for a drive and intentionally not play music so I can have quiet time to recharge. And if I can pull it off, I pair the trip with running much-needed errands for a doubly productive drive.
Applying gentle pressure to specific areas of your hand can create a sense of instant calm. It might seem strange but it works (and it's better than doing the downward dog in the middle of a workshop)!
